Incoherent rage
Well, that would explain the string of miserable days, alright.
i just got my period. At 7.5 weeks postpartum, despite continuous breastfeeding.
GODDAMNIT.
I just ... I have no words.

Have you spoken to your ob-gyn? that just doesn't sound right to me.
Yeah, it was the nurse who confirmed it for me. Though my mamas group is now coming up with several anecdotal tales of period-like early bleeding around 6-8 weeks that then never came back. I'm crossing my fingers - I'd rather have no excuse for my crankiness and no period than vice versa, you betcha!
Yeah, I was kind of wondering about whether it might be late post-partum "spotting" of some kind. I hope so.
With both my guys I started back having periods at around 6 or 7 months -- Josie I'd stopped breastfeeding; Deirdre we were still going strong.
Lack of sleep and the demands of a 7 week old are plenty of excuse for crankiness. Did you give up coffee, chocolate and dairy because they were causing problems for the baby, or just in case they would?
My favorite nursing advice, from my Dad's girlfriend (a former pediatrician): Beer is good for nursing mothers.
Dairy is definitely a problem. Chocolate may be - I'll try it again after he's out of the growth spurt, which might be an alternate explanation for the recent fussiness, though sadly, milk chocolate is my favorite and still off-limits. And coffee interferes with my ability to nap whenever I get the chance, so I'm off it until he's reliably sleeping through the nights.
Beer is VERY good for me, though I'm using it more as a sleep aid around 4 a.m. after pumping than as a nice with-meals thing, since I was told to wait an hour after drinking to breastfeed, and that's the only time I'll for sure get a break that long these days.
Noto bene - don't forgo contraception under the circumstances.
Guinness is also one of the lowest alcohol beers around and my dear departed Irish mother swore by it.

I'm not much of a stout drinker, so I'm mostly sticking to my usual pale ales - but maybe I'll pick up some Guinness. Who knows, I may develop a taste for it, and I could use the extra calories, the way he eats!
As for contraception, you're the third person to tell me that. Thanks for the advice, but of all the things a reasonably well-informed adult woman who has just gone through 9 months of pregnancy is going to be careful about, that was already on the top of the list.
Sorry about the period -- hope it's just a fluke and that it doesn't come back for at least a few months. Mine didn't return until around month 11.
BTW -- I would love to see Stick It with you, but my girl is too old to go to the theater. But the metreon does have showings on tuesdays where you can bring babies -- I used to go all the time when Juniper was tiny. It was great. You have to check their website every week to see what they're showing. You should go -- it's a great reason to get out of the house.
