Barack Obama
I've been really clear about where my heart lies in this election. I'll vote for Hillary if she's our nominee, but I'll campaign for Obama. I had a whole discussion about the differences between the candidates the other day with some Democrats on both sides of the fence, and I thought I'd dig up these links so I could share some of the reading I've been doing about the campaign.
- The Choice: The New Yorker's George Packer on Obama and Clinton's different conceptions of what the Presidency is, means, and does.
- The Audacity of Data: A great New Republic article on Obama and Clinton's economic and foreign policy advisory teams and differences.
- Obama and the Jewish Vote: Tony Karon (senior editor at TIME.com) on Obama, Clinton, and Zionism.
- Actually, I Think We Can: Obsidian Wings addresses the opposition spin that Obama is all style and no substance, using concrete examples from his legislative career.
- RealClearPolitics.com: Polling aggregation site on the current polling outcomes of a potential Obama/McCain and Clinton/McCain general election. As of this writing, Obama is polling better against McCain than Clinton, but the 15-point average lead he had last week has eroded rapidly in the face of Clinton's negative attacks, putting McCain ahead again, though not by a statistically significant margin. Are we going to watch the Democratic Party sabotage our best chance at the Presidency in a decade with petty infighting? I hope not.
- Superdelegates who haven't endorsed: An action link for those of us who have already voted but still hope to be able to influence the outcome. Are some of your state's superdelegates uncommitted? Write a letter! Make a phone call! It's going to come down to superdelegates (if it doesn't come down to some sort of horrible backpedalling compromise with Florida and Michigan that will leave nobody happy), so make your voice heard.
