Caaaaaaaake!
To make up for the lack of pictures in the Squidbits post, I offer you cakespam from the birthday party, which was nice and low-key.

I made a carrot cake in the shape of the train from his favorite book, "Trains" by Byron Barton.

My mother made a krispie cake shaped like a giant snaky sea monster. (I tried to put its head on a pike after the rest of it got eaten, but I didn't let it dry out first, and it fell apart. Woe.) In this picture, you can see that the train is about to run into a sea monster ambush. Oh, no, train! Watch out!

That's not the only kind of monster danger the train cake was in, of course. I tried to feed it to the Squidmonster, but he was having none of it - we are heading rapidly into the glorious era of "No! I do it myself!"

Which he did.

Messily. Though the eyebrow icing was his daddy's addition.

Yay! Happy Birthday to Squid! \o/

I love the seamonster cake! And the head on a spike idea, woe.

Wow, Chris and I are both so impressed with that train cake. So nice, down to matching the background color on the book. Ada was way into that book for a good long stretch.
In book related thoughts, today I read the same three books four times, and Chris read them at least once each. Whee, indeed.
